Reality Star Earns 10k Per Tweet

Word recently got out that Kim Kardashian is charging ten thousand dollars per tweet for companies that want her to mention their products on Twitter.  Commenters on the article were shocked – not because she was making 10k per tweet, but because she was making 10k per tweet.  Twitter is a powerful marketing tool, because tweets are broadcast to a network of like-minded individuals who generally want a lot of the same things.  Fans of celebrities can “follow” their favorite stars and when the stars tweet about how much they love their new Jimmy Choos, all of their fans will follow and Jimmy Choos will sell out across the country.  Kim Kardashian has some pull with teenage girls on Twitter, but many business owners can access more effective publicity for free by making strategic connections in the twittersphere and interacting with their target demographic regularly.  If a washed up reality star can make an impact on Twitter, why can’t a savvy business person like you?

Facebook is also an excellent way to market your business for free.  Most people with Facebook accounts check them for updates at least once a day, many of them staying logged in for hours at a time.  People on Facebook can become “fans” of different businesses and those business’ “status updates” will show up on all of their fan’s personal news feeds.  One restaurant that I’ve “fanned” sends updates about their daily lunch specials to a network of almost three thousand people, just in the Utah valley area – and the business they get from their updates costs them nothing.

A few years ago, Facebook, Twitter, and other social networking sites might have only been useful to businesses whose target demographic was in their teens to late thirties, but that has changed.  Almost everyone I know, from my thirteen year old sister to my mother to my seventy-five year old grandmother have Facebook accounts and use them regularly to stay in touch with their friends and family.  The other great thing about social media is that when someone recommends a product, all of the people who trust their opinions get to see it – like word of mouth personal recommendations to the nth degree.

If you think your business could benefit from utilizing social media, now is the time to do it.  Never has the reach of social media been greater or more effective.  The experts at Professional Marketing International can show you how to make the most of the Twitter and Facebook phenomenon.  Check out our website at www.pmieducation.com.
